CubeCoach solves a 3x3 Rubik's cube in the browser and teaches the beginner layer-by-layer method while it does. That choice is deliberate. Kociemba's two-phase algorithm finds solutions of around 20 moves, but all you can do with one is copy the symbols with no idea why they work. The beginner method takes roughly 120 moves, and every one of them belongs to one of seven named stages, each with a plain-language note on what it achieves and how to tell you got it right. Teaching is the point; move count is not. You enter the cube by hand or scan its faces with the camera, and it is drawn in three.js with real layer rotations. A cube that cannot exist — a corner popped back in twisted, a flipped edge, a mis-scanned sticker — is refused rather than searched for forever: the app checks corner twist, edge flip and permutation parity, and tells you which piece is wrong.
It is early, and the public record is thin. The repository is currently one commit on 19 October 2026 containing only the README; the move engine, the solver, the camera scanner and the test suite it describes are not in it, so nothing on this page can yet be checked against code. The scanner has a known weak spot as well: it classifies colour in HSV, relative to the other stickers on the same face, and leaves a sticker blank rather than guess, but orange against red is still the hard case. Manual entry is the path that always works.
